Juliet Haas

Juliet’s visual language is fueled by the many moods expressed in an ever changing landscape. Much like poetry or a play of words theatrically presented in a wild stream of consciousness, her passion is to capture Mans’ terrible glorious mark on the Earth in a frame. To witness it with a child-like wonder and throw its essence up into the wind to see where it lands. It is in this place of un-reality where the spirit can roam freely to explore where time has no meaning and there is only beauty.

Juliet started her photographic journey as an architecture student in 1993. During a mentorship program she embarked on a field exploration of a dream location for a Spa and Retreat Center she would design from the ground up including topographical maps and hand drawn drafts of the structure in pencil on velum. It would never begin. This assignment photographing the landscape and taking the film into the darkroom is where the magic of print making changed the direction of her life.

Juliet is a Northern California-based contemporary American photographer. She has curated photography exhibitions in Sacramento and online and was the producer of Open Show Sacramento 2016 – 2022. In 2017 she founded the critique group PHOTO Sacto holding once monthly print viewing session and exhibiting with the group in two consecutive Photography Month Sacramento events before retiring the program in 2022. Today she continues to break new ground with her fellow creative image makers in the digital arts environment using blockchain technology to expand the reach of the visual arts through continued education and community.
